Enhance the Overall Look with the Fabric Trim

Enhance the Overall Look with the Fabric Trim

It is now uncommon to find fabrics made into clothing that are only colored and designed. You have other accessories that can be used to enhance an existing cloth arrangement. They are fabric trims.

What is a fabric trim?

It's something to adorn the fabric with, such as a border, a contrasting motif, or something similar. Fabric trims are decorative elements that provide a special touch to your sewing. They elevate the quality of your finished clothing and accessories.

Let's take a look at some of the most popular trims:

  1. Fringe

Fringe lace trim is an ornamental border or edging made of dangling threads, cords, or strips that are sometimes attached to a separate band. These are made up of a header and long, uniformly spaced threads that hang from it. They are typically composed of cotton, satin wool, or leather.

  1. Lace Trims

Lace is a delicate cloth with a pattern that resembles an open web. It's most famous for being the fabric for bridal and evening gowns because it's exquisite and feminine. Lace trims are very commonly used to embellish dresses. The focus of this fabric style is usually on a complicated floral design.

It's light and airy, so you can mix and match lace with any lining without worrying about the heaviness of your gown. Furthermore, lace does not need any edge preparation, making sewing easier.

Nylon, Rayon, Spandex, Cotton, Polyester, Silk, and Elastic are some of the materials used to make lace. Lace is one of the most attractive and costly textiles available.

  1. Ribbons

Nylon and satin are the most common materials for ribbons. They're frequently implemented as embellishments. Nylon ribbons have a wide range of designs, but satin ribbons are often narrow. Printed ribbons are also quite fashionable today.

Ribbon embroidery is a popular ornament that uses a thin satin ribbon. Artificial flowers are also made with nylon ribbons.

Ribbon embroidery uses ribbon instead of embroidery thread to create lovely floral motifs such as French knots, leaves, blooms, and daisies. Clothes and accessories are embellished with ribbon roses or bows.

  1. Braids

A braid is a narrow decorative tape made of braided silk, wool, or other materials that are used to embellish fabric, among other things.Silver, metallic, or cotton threads are plaited into braids. Braids come in a variety of styles:

  • Drawstrings, button loops, and lacing are all done with this narrow circular braid with a center sewing ditch.
  • A flat, narrow braid;
  • Cotton loop braids are a fun ornamental edging option.

  1. Embroidered

This is a tape with needlework woven into it or embellished with sequins, beads, and sequins. Silk, cotton, nylon, and satin are all options. Floral and geometrical needlework are common in these tapes. Gimp is a decorative tape made from metallic wire or coarse rope that creates decorations on a flat surface.

Fringe lace trim is an excellent way to enhance the appearance of your fabric. You can, however, play around with other fabric trims and embellishments.
